Quiero empezar una nueva sección en mis posts llamado “Diario de una Mangaka”. En esta sección, quiero compartir diferentes temas sobre mi día a día como dibujante, así como otros que podrían ser útiles o de interés para otros dibujantes que se inician en este mundo.
Con esto, complementaría las secciones de comics, ilustraciones y fanarts que actualmente publico.
Empiezo esta sección compartiendo que recientemente me uní a un grupo donde todos son fans del anime old school y eso me tiene muy entusiasmada y me ha despertado la creatividad para nuevos fanarts.
Siempre he admirado el arte del anime old school. Me encanta ver en las tomas de acercamiento cómo se puede apreciar la textura del lápiz en las líneas de la animación. Adicionalmente, que me inspira mucho ver cómo resolvían escenas complejas en un tiempo donde no había tecnología tan avanzada como hoy día para apoyarse en hacer planos y rotaciones de objetos complejos.
Cuando era niña, nunca hice fanarts de mis series favoritas a pesar que me hubiese gustado. Yo empecé a dibujar a los 9 años cuando descubrí que sí me gustaba el dibujo. Antes de eso, quien hacía los dibujos por mí para las tareas de la escuela era mi mamá.
Yo no sentía ninguna conexión con el dibujo. No me llamaba la atención hacer nada de lo que nos pedían en la escuela hasta que un día, un maestro suplente nos pidió en clases sacar nuestros cuadernos de dibujo y que hiciéramos lo que quisiéramos. Ese día, dibujé un robot de la serie “Los Gobots”. Estaba tan contenta con lo que había hecho que llegué a la casa a seguir dibujando.
Descubrí que no me gustaba dibujar, no porque realmente no me gustara sino porque nunca nos daban oportunidad a trabajar un tema libre. Siempre era lo que decía la maestra que dibujáramos y eso no me llamaba la atención “dibujen una casa, dibujen a su familia, dibujen el cielo…” No fue hasta que tuve la oportunidad de dejar salir mi creatividad que pude conectarme con el arte y desde ese día no dejo de dibujar.
Luego, me tocó aprender por mí misma experimentando y viendo la televisión. En una época en la que no había internet, era improbable conseguir un tutorial que enseñara a dibujar cualquier cosa y en las bibliotecas no había más que libros de Historia del Arte pero ninguno dedicado al dibujo y menos al manga.
No empecé a hacer fanarts sino hasta cuando tuve alrededor de 12 años que empecé dibujando personajes de Disney como el Pato Donald y sus sobrinos. Aún no me sentía en confianza para hacer a los personajes que quería porque sentía que mi dibujo era muy feo y no me quedarían igual.
Así que unirme a este fandom es como darle a esa niña interna, la posibilidad de hacer todos los fanarts que hubiese querido y compartirlos con otros niños que también les gusta esas series. Así que tan pronto termine los primeros, los estaré compartiendo acá también.
Debo agradecer a mi maestro que me dio la posibilidad de explorar algo que pensé que no me gustaba pero que realmente es lo que más amo hacer en la vida. También gracias a él, pudieron detectar que tenía problemas de la vista ya que nadie se había percatado de ello. Era un maestro muy joven, sin embargo, siempre estaba pendiente de cada uno de sus alumnos. Pero ya eso es una historia que contaré en otro post.

I want to start a new section in my posts called "Diary of a Mangaka". In this section, I want to share different topics about my day to day life as a cartoonist, as well as others that could be useful or of interest to other cartoonists who are starting in this world.
With this, I would complement the sections of comics, illustrations and fanarts that I currently publish.
I start this section sharing that I recently joined a group where everyone is a fan of old school anime and that has made me very excited and has awakened my creativity for new fanarts.
I have always admired the art of old school anime. I love to see in close-up shots how you can appreciate the texture of the pencil in the lines of the animation. Additionally, it inspires me a lot to see how they solved complex scenes in a time when there was no technology as advanced as today to rely on to make planes and rotations of complex objects.
When I was a child, I never made fanarts of my favorite series even though I would have liked to. I started drawing at the age of 9 when I discovered that I did like drawing. Before that, my mom was the one who did my drawings for me for school assignments.
I didn't feel any connection with drawing. I didn't care to do anything we were asked to do at school until one day, a substitute teacher asked us in class to take out our sketchbooks and do whatever we wanted. That day, I drew a robot from the "Gobots" series. I was so happy with what I had done that I came home to continue drawing.
I discovered that I didn't like drawing, not because I didn't really like it, but because we were never given the opportunity to work on a free theme. It was always what the teacher told us to draw and that didn't catch my attention "draw a house, draw your family, draw the sky...". It wasn't until I had the opportunity to let my creativity out that I was able to connect with art and since that day I haven't stopped drawing.
Then, it was up to me to learn by myself by experimenting and watching television. At a time when there was no internet, it was unlikely to get a tutorial that taught me how to draw anything and in the libraries there were only Art History books but none dedicated to drawing and even less to manga.
I didn't start doing fanart until I was about 12 years old when I started drawing Disney characters like Donald Duck and his nephews. I still didn't feel confident to do the characters I wanted because I felt that my drawing was too ugly and they wouldn't look the same.
So joining this fandom is like giving that inner child the possibility to make all the fanart I would have wanted and share it with other kids who also like those series. So as soon as I finish the first ones, I will be sharing them here too.
I must thank my teacher who gave me the possibility to explore something that I thought I didn't like but that really is what I love to do most in life. Also thanks to him, they were able to detect that I had eyesight problems since no one had noticed it. He was a very young teacher, however, he was always looking out for each of his students. But that is a story I will tell in another post.
